Most entry level positions are in the factory setting. These positions require standing on concrete floors for long periods of time (8-12 hours). These positions will also involve repetitive motions, such as bending, stooping, twisting, lifting and flexing of wrist and arms.
Minimum qualifications for an entry level position are to be at least 18 years of age, have a diploma or GED, reasonable command of the English language, ability to read and understand written instructions, pass pre-employment drug screen and be able to recognize warning signals and imperfection in product.
Performing manual tasks that involve; quality inspection, lifting and stacking of signatures (a sheet that has been printed and folded), operation of electric and manual hand dollies, use of various chemicals and working on and around web presses with rollers, belts and cylinders all moving at high speeds.
Placement of signatures (printed magazine sections) into a gathering machine pocket or a hopper loader. Lifting and breaking (bend or form) handfuls of magazine sections. Jogging handfuls of magazine sections before placing into a gathering machine pocket at production speeds.
Placement of magazines onto pallets, into cartons, wire containers, or mailbags. Completing load tickets, counting, keeping track and quality inspection of stacks of finished magazines.
